9-1-1 PSAP Management
A course from the 9-1-1 Manager National Certification Program
This 3-day interactive workshop will cover the following subjects:
Facility – Learn from the experts who are familiar with the mistakes made by others.
Whether you are in the basement of an existing facility, building a new state-of-the-art building or somewhere in between, this segment of the course will provide the participant with all of the issues that should be considered.
Equipment What issues need to be considered?
Is you equipment up to date to meet a standard of care? If so, can it be upgraded or will it need to be replaced as new technology emerges? Is it too late? What are my options? Who is making the equipment purchasing decisions now and are they qualified?
Personnel – Learn what the standard of care is for 9-1-1 personnel during the hiring process. This begins with the choice of words for the job announcement and carries through the entire application process -- a process of interviews, background investigations including criminal, medical, employment and personal references. Also, aptitude testing, which includes both knowledge skills, must be pre-defined and equally administered according to EEOC rules.
Training - This includes the basic 9-1-1 Officer certification and a series of continuing education courses for recertification. Professional Development courses must be available for the 9-1-1 supervisor and manager.
Direction - The management plan for a 9-1-1 PSAP is it's policies. Operating procedures should not only be written but developed into a criteria-based protocol format.
Quality Assurance - A PSAP can only ensure compliance by tis employees through a standardized Quality Assurance / Quality Improvement Program.
