Fire Communications Officer
The purpose of this interactive workshop is to provide a certification process for individuals who receive emergency calls for fires.
The Fire Communications Officer candidate will receive the training necessary to effectively process all fire calls.
This course meets the following standards:
- Project 33© National Public Safety 9-1-1 Training Standard
- NENA© 56-004 – TTY/TDD Call Handling Standard
- NENA© 56-005 - NENA Call Answering Standard
- NFPA 1061 Public Safety Telecommunicator I and Telecommunicator II
- CALEA© Standards for Public Safety Communications Agencies

- Understand the role of 9-1-1 in the fire service
- Become familiar with fire service apparatus and equipment
- Become familiar with fire service terms and their definitions
- Be able to develop and utilize fire call protocols
