EMD Officer Course Description
The NHTSA EMD National Standard Program is a 24-hour national certification program for experienced emergency communications personnel with an aptitude and desire to process emergency medical calls.
This program meets the following EMD Standards:
- U.S. DOT/NHTSA Standard 11 ASTM 1258 (Standard Practice for EMD)
- ASTM 1552 (EMD Selection Criteria)
- ASTM 1560 (EMD Program Management)
Upon completion of this program, the EMD may return to their agency and practice EMD using any EMD protocols approved by the agency "medical control."
