9-1-1 Officer Recertification
Individuals who have become certified through NECI or any other 9-1-1 Officer certification program recognized by their agency can become recertified through NECI.
To become recertified as a 9-1-1 Officer through NECI, all individuals must meet the following requirements:
• Current 9-1-1 Officer (or equivalent) certification through any basic 9-1-1 course recognized by the agency where the individual works.
• Meet all state or local requirements.
• 12 months minimum of full-time or part-time experience as a 9-1-1 Officer.
• 12 hours minimum of 9-1-1-related in-service training within the past twelve months.
• Role-play (with a certified public safety instructor, preferable a 9-1-1 Instructor) each of the calls listed below.
o 2 Crime in progress calls
o 2 Domestic violence calls
o 2 Suicide calls
o 2 HAZMAT calls
o 2 Bomb Threat Calls
o 2 additional calls at the option of the 9-1-1 Officer
• Successfully pass the 9-1-1 Officer "closed-book" final written examination provided by NECI. A Study Guide will be sent for preparation.
Upon receipt of a complete application with a purchase order or credit card number, NECI will forward the NECI 9-1-1 Officer National Certification Course and recertification instructions on a CD.
